Morning after Surgery

It's a new day and we have some new reports and prayer requests for Ella!  The night was long, as expected, but there were no major complications.  And they were able to take her off the vent!

Prayer Requests

-Please pray for Ella's oxygen levels to stay up where they need to be!  Right now her right lung is partially collapsed, and possibly the left as well.  They need her to cry some to help open up the lungs again.  The problem is, when she is awake, she cries too much, so her oxygen levels drop too low (in the 60's).  If this continues, they will have to either put her on the CPAP (the machine that forces air into the lungs) or even back on the ventilator.  Please pray that this would NOT be necessary!

-Today they plan to take out her cardiac and neck lines.  We are praying that this is successful because Ella is really hungry, and when they take these lines out, they will be able to give her some clear liquids.  They still need to leave the drain tubes in for now because there is still drainage, but that is normal.

-Pray for relief for Ella from her headache.  It is very obvious that this is bothering her because with the littlest noises, she cries.

-And last, but certainly not least, please pray for Jon & Amy.  They did not sleep at all last night, so they are exhausted, and they are showing some physical signs of the stress.  Pray for God to give them the grace and strength they need to get through this time.  Ella is so blessed to have them for parents, they are both so strong for her!

We thank you all so much for your prayers.  Let's continue to lift Jon, Amy, & Ella up to our heavenly Father, who knows our needs even before we ask.

Let's pray this verse especially over them today!   ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10

Gratefully,

Aunt Kristina

  4. Footprints

One night I had a dream--
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints,
one belonged to me and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.
This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way,
but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
"I don't understand why in times when I needed you most,
    you should leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never, never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
"When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Amy and Jon please remember this poem....god is carrying all of you in this time. He will and can provide all your needs emotionally, physically, and financially. When your at your breaking point take a deep breath and remember that GOD will carry all of this for you if you will let him. Take the backpack off and give it away it is not yours to carry. I am so glad to hear good news about Ella this morning and will keep sharing her story with those I meet and continue to pray this weekend for her recovery. Stay strong and know that GOD doesn't give us more then we can handle, this is part of your journey and part of the plan.

  5. Praying! 'God will not bring you to it lest He bring you through it.' Jon & Amy will be living testimonies to this little saying when this is behind them. God chose you to be Ella's parents and He will give you the strength to get through.
Praying especially for the concerns mentioned. God is faithful, but His children have a part to play by praying and encouraging those who are walking through the valley or climbing the mountain. You have come through another valley and are on your way back up the mountain. Praise the Lord!

  7. I know it is so hard for Amy and Jon to see their beautiful, smiling Ella in such awful distress. I pray that her distress is only temporary, as we realize that it is a necessary (and painful) part of making Ella's heart function better and better. Our family's prayers are with you all, as we have seen what this distress does to our little Emma, too. God is with you all!
Hugs from Emma's Nana Jana Stewart
